Artista Vista is a weekend full of art fun and happenings. Start the weekend early with our kick-off party on Thursday and finish late Saturday at the Art Bar with the "Last Hurrah". Here is a little peek into what's going on!
5-9pm: Art Gallery Tours. This kick-off party is one of Columbia's best and oldest events. Join friends and family to walk from gallery to gallery, mingling with the artists and viewing special exhibitions. Some galleries will be offering food and beverages and even demonstrations. Don't miss this festive and fun night in the Vista. Additionally, enjoy music entertainment such as, Next Door Drummers located at the Vista Greenway (Lincoln & Lady Streets), and duo Prettier Than Matt and Zach Bingham Trio planning outside River Runner.
8pm: Art Bar “Shark’s Parlor” Party. Poetry readings and short stories by creative writing students in the USC Master of Fine Arts Program. Over five creative writers will share their work focusing on the subjects of Artista Vista and the Vista, followed by live music (free concert) from The Sea Wolf Mutiny.
9:30am: One Columbia: Mayor’s Famously Hot Bike Ride through the Vista Greenway. Join Mayor Benjamin for this Famously Hot Bike Ride. Registration starts at 9:30am at the Seibels House; ride starts at 10:30am. The tour will take you on an almost 3-mile, family-friendly ride through downtown Columbia and the Vista Greenway, and showcase some of the city's most historic sites. 12pm: City Art "High Noon." - Gallery Talks with the Artists
12-4pm: Historic Columbia Foundation presents “Mini Vista History Tours.” Meet outside the Vista Room (corner of Lincoln & Lady Streets) under the Lincoln Street canopy.
1:30pm: Install It 3: "Above and Below" tour. The participating artists and curator will give a tour of the installation artworks located in the Vista Greenway tunnel at Lincoln and Lady streets.
2:45pm: The Gallery at DuPre. - Artist Talks
4pm: Lewis + Clark Kaiserslautern Installation - 1221 Lincoln Street
The project consists of two murals, one produced in Columbia last year and a second, produced by artists of the Kunstlerwerkgemeinschaft Kaiserslautern earlier this year in Columbia's German sister city Kaiserslautern. Both murals will be exhibited during Artista Vista in the Lewis & Clark space at 1221 Lincoln Street, next to if ART Gallery, made available by Lewis & Clark owner Clark Ellefson.The project is part of an exchange between Columbia and Kaiserslautern artists that has been going on for more than a decade. Through the exchange several artist from Columbia have visited, worked and exhibited in Kaiserslautern, and several from Kaiserslautern have done the same thing in Columbia.
6-7pm: OneColumbia Art Finale "The Last Hurrah" at Art Bar. Join OneColumbia and the Art Bar for this theatrical event. Theatres from around Columbia present their fall season's plans to the public.
